Man is a part of nature that provides him with everything necessary for his life and production activity. For many years humankind has been trying to exploit nature and dominate it, as a result people came to the verge of an ecological disaster. "Greenhouse effect", "Ozone hole", "Acid rains", shortage of food and drinking water, the World Ocean pollution – all these problems threaten the mankind with death and demand an immediate solution. Today it is hardly possible to call more important global tasks than rational use of natural resources and environmental protection. Their solution is possible only if based on ecological knowledge.

The area of bachelor’s professional activities includes:
- design and research, production, marketing, consulting, economic, legal, training, and expert departments; bureaus, centres, companies, and institutes engaged in environmental protection;
- federal and regional environmental authorities and environment management (Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, other environmental agencies and institutions);
- Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, Ministry of Economic Development, Federal Agency for Construction, Housing and Communal Services, Ministry of Health and Social Development, Ministry of Culture, Federal Agency for Education, Ministry of Agriculture, subordinated federal services and agencies;
- Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Rosatom, Federal Agency for Tourism, Federal Security Service;
- regional and municipal bodies of authority;
- academic and departmental research institutions;
- various educational institutions;
- environmental protection divisions of manufacturing enterprises and organizations;
- mass media;
- public organizations and funds;
- representations of foreign companies.

Subjects of bachelor’s professional activities are:
- natural, anthropogenic, economic, ecological, production, social, public, territorial systems and structures of global, national, regional and local levels;
- national planning, control, monitoring, expertise of ecological components of all forms of economic activity;
- education, population health, demographic processes, sustainable development programs.

Bachelor in “Ecology and Environmental Management” is trained for the following types of professional activities:
- research,
- design and production,
- auditing,
- managerial,
- pedagogy.

Bachelors in "Ecology and Environmental Management" participate in field works, ecological expeditions, scientific eco-laboratories, and computer centres when carrying out their research and production work.

The higher educational institution, the trained, scientific and pedagogical staff of the university, and associations of employers define particular types of professional activity of bachelor training.
