Any work related to the survey, design, construction and operation of industrial and civil facilities cannot be carried out without a surveying engineer. The demand for specialists is due to the uniqueness of the profession - only a few universities in Russia train highly qualified surveying engineers. This profession entails the opportunity to travel around the cities of the Russian Federation and beyond. A modern surveying engineer has a high salary.

The specialty «Applied Geodesy» is also one of the most popular among applicants. SSUGT is one of the leaders in training specialists in the field of geodesy. In 1948, the university opened the specialty «Engineering Geodesy» and the first graduation of engineers-geodesists took place in 1952. The university has been graduating engineers-geodesists for more than 70 years.
The famous scientist-geodesist V.V. Vitkovsky characterized geodesy as follows: «Geodesy is one of the most useful branches of knowledge; our entire earthly existence is limited by the Earth, and it is as necessary for humanity to study its appearance and size as it is for an individual to get acquainted with the details of his home.»
The profession of a surveyor has existed for more than one thousand years. Today, the construction sector is actively gaining momentum - entire microdistricts are being built, schools, hospitals, sports complexes, bridges, highways are being built. All this means that the need for specialists will only grow and the profession will remain relevant for many years to come.
In addition to traditional disciplines, the training program for specialists includes the study of modern technologies: the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground and mobile laser scanning technologies, GPS, GLONASS technologies, BIM technologies, programming, etc.
For the purposes of automating the processing of geodetic data, digital modeling and design, the training program includes the study of modern domestic and foreign software products: the KREDO software package, nanoCAD, GeoniCS, GIS Panorama, etc.
Today, it is impossible to start constructing capital construction projects without a surveyor engineer. Surveyors are needed when conducting surveys during the design of buildings and structures, then at the stage of construction and installation works, and later during operation and monitoring of settlements and deformations of buildings and structures, ensuring the safety of the facility.
Duration of full-time study - 5 years
Duration of study by correspondence - 6 years
The educational program provides for educational and industrial practices, including mastering the skills of working with modern geodetic instruments (electronic levels, electronic tacheometers, satellite receivers, scanners). To master practical classes, our own UAV fleet and training ground are used. Educational practice takes place at the training ground of SSUGT and at industrial facilities.
To obtain practical skills in mastering the acquired competencies, industrial practice is provided in specialized organizations in the construction of highways, bridge structures, residential and non-residential buildings, oil and gas facilities, etc. Practical training is conducted in production conditions at real facilities. The experience gained and the collected production material will allow you to prepare your final qualifying work, and also contribute to further employment in these organizations.
A good surveyor is worth its weight in gold today. This is not an easy profession, the safety and reliability of any multi-storey building, the convenience of transport interchanges and the accuracy of maps depend on the experience and skills of the specialist. A representative of this profession should be in every construction and land management company. In addition, companies value such specialists, so there is no staff turnover in this profession. Surveying engineers are in high demand in the largest construction organizations, as well as when performing surveys, observing sediments and deformations at production facilities both in Russia and abroad.
SSUGT closely cooperates with the largest companies in Russia, such as JSC «Novosibirskavtodor», JSC «Mostostroy-11», LLC «Construction Management», PJSC «Surgutneftegaz», LLC LUKOIL-Western Siberia, «RN-Yuganskneftegaz», LLC Construction Company «YuViS», JSC «Sibtekhenergo», LLC «Sib-geo-mar», LLC «Norilsknickelremont», LLC «Guild of Siberia», PJSC «NK «ROSNEFT», JSC «Vankorneft», PJSC «Gazprom Neft», JSC «Razrez Kolyvansky» and others.
