The educational program contains a set of disciplines on economic, engineering, technical and management topics. The largest part of the educational program is occupied by management disciplines - theoretical innovation, marketing in the innovation sphere, as well as metrology, standardization and certification.
The program is aimed at training specialists capable of implementing projects and processes for the development and use of new products and new services, new technologies, new types of resources, new forms and methods of organizing production and management, new markets and their possible combinations; projects for the commercialization of innovations; instrumental support for all phases of innovation project management; projects for the formation and scientific and technical development of innovative small businesses.
Taking into account the active implementation and use of automated systems in modern management, the training program includes the study of modern software products in the field of project management.
The program profile is aimed at training specialists capable of participating in the development of corporate, regional and interregional, industry, inter-industry, federal and international innovation projects and programs, including: innovation projects for the creation of competitive production of goods and services; innovation projects for the reengineering of business processes; innovation projects for the development of territories; projects and processes for forecasting innovative development and the adaptation of production and economic systems to innovations.

The educational program includes educational and industrial practices. Educational practice is conducted on the territory of SSUGT, as well as on the territory of various scientific and industrial organizations. To master practical skills, our own project management laboratory is used, where future specialists acquire planning and project management skills. Industrial practice takes place at leading enterprises of Russia, in government agencies, and institutions of the regional innovation infrastructure. After completing industrial practice, in most cases, students begin a career at the enterprise, which contributes to further employment as a certified specialist.
Currently, most leading enterprises of the Russian Federation are interested in specialists in the implementation of innovations and management of innovative projects. Graduates of the direction are easily employed in government bodies, institutions of the regional innovation infrastructure, as well as in business structures.
