Any oil and gas producing and mining enterprise cannot do without a mining engineer (surveyor). The demand for specialists is due to the uniqueness of the profession - only a few universities in Russia train modern mine surveyors. The profession of a mine surveyor is one of the highest paid

The Mining specialty is also one of the most popular among applicants. To date, over 1,400 specialists have received a mining engineer diploma at SSUGT. A mining engineer (surveyor) is a specialist who plans and controls all stages of open and underground mining operations: during the development of deposits, construction of underground structures of civil and defense significance. A mining engineer performs spatial and geometric measurements and digital modeling of terrain, modeling of mineral deposits and calculation of reserves, performs survey work in the design of construction and reconstruction of complex engineering structures: bridges, boreholes, underground tunnels and subways.
Taking into account the actively developing mine surveying industry, the training program for specialists, in addition to traditional disciplines, includes the study of modern technologies: the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), airborne laser scanning technology, GPS, GLONASS technology.
For the purposes of automating data processing, digital modeling, design and planning of mining operations, the program includes the study of modern domestic and foreign software products: Mining and geological information system Micromine Origin&Beyond, software package KREDO, nanoCAD, GeoniCS, etc.
No modern gold and diamond mining, oil and gas company can do without mine surveying services. The main task of a mine surveyor is to organize the construction of underground, and in some cases, surface structures, taking into account the rules of technical operation and provisions for the conservation of natural resources and the environment.

The educational program provides for educational and industrial practices, including mastering the skills of working with modern mine surveying and geodetic instruments (electronic theodolites, levels, electronic tacheometers and satellite receivers). To master practical classes, our own UAV fleet and training ground are used. Educational practice takes place both on the territory of SSUGT, and at fields and quarries, in geological laboratories.
To obtain practical skills in mastering the acquired competencies, industrial practice is provided in specialized organizations at oil and gas and other fields, various quarries and mines. Practical training is conducted in production conditions at real facilities. The experience gained and the collected production material will allow you to prepare a final qualifying work, and also contribute to further employment in these organizations.
There are good career prospects for a mining engineer. Such specialists are in high demand in mining companies, major construction contractors, and oil and gas companies both in Russia and abroad.
