X International Student Geodesy Olympiad: Jubilee Event in Honor of the 80th Anniversary of Victory

From May 19 to 23, as part of the Interexpo GEO-Siberia forum, the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies will host the jubilee X International Student Geodesy Olympiad, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. This large-scale event will bring together talented students from leading universities in Russia and Kazakhstan to test their professional skills, strengthen scientific ties and honor the memory of war heroes.

Olympiad Program

  • May 19 – arrival of participants and training measurements in classrooms.
  • May 20 – practical (field) stage on the territory of SSUGiT, where students will demonstrate their ability to work with geodetic equipment in real conditions.
  • May 21 – the competition will continue at the site of the Novosibirsk Expocentre International Exhibition Complex (104 Stantsionnaya St.), where participants will complete complex tasks in modern conditions.
  • May 22 – ceremonial summing up of the results and awarding of the winners at the Novosibirsk Expocentre International Exhibition Complex.
  • May 23 – departure of the teams.

The Olympiad will be attended by teams from leading Russian and Kazakh universities:

  • Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK);
  • Irkutsk National Research Technical University (IrNITU);
  • A.F. Mozhaisky Military Space Academy;
  • Tyumen Industrial University;
  • St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering;
  • Omsk State Agrarian University named after P.A. Solopin.

And also teams from Kazakhstan:

  • Shakirim University (Semey);
  • Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov.

SSUGT will present three teams: two teams of students studying in the specialty «Applied Geodesy» and one team of students studying in the direction of «Geodesy and Remote Sensing».

The Olympiad will not only identify the best young specialists in the field of geodesy, but will also become a platform for exchanging experience, strengthening international cooperation and paying tribute to historical memory.
