Novosibirsk Robotics Festival "Look into the Future"
An open festival on robotics for schoolchildren "Look into the Future" was held in Novosibirsk. The main organizers of the Festival were the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies and the Center for Digital Education of Children "IT-Cube" on the basis of the MBOU of the city of Novosibirsk "Novosibirsk Classical Gymnasium No. 17", with the support of LLC EC "Renewal".
The main goal of the event is to motivate students to acquire additional competencies to realize their creative potential and knowledge in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.
SSUGT became a platform for holding the offline component of the Festival, and an online section was also held as part of the event.
In total, more than 50 secondary educational institutions and gymnasiums from Novosibirsk and the Novosibirsk region applied for participation in the event.
The Festival program included a 5-route tour of SSUGT research centers, an exhibition of university students' projects and a competitive part among schoolchildren in online and offline formats.
At the exhibition, schoolchildren could get acquainted with RoboMaster robots, Alpha Mini smart robots, which are ready to make friends, entertain, teach, and communicate in a variety of scenarios. Also within the framework of the exhibition, the capabilities of programmable drones and the basics of 5D printing were demonstrated.
As part of the event, schoolchildren visited the Center for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, the UC "SSUGT Planetarium", the Center for Engineering and Robotics, the "Modern Geodesy" master class, and took part in the "Digital Earth" team game.
Competitions between schoolchildren were held in two areas: VEX VR programming, which took place online on a virtual platform, and VEX IQ programming at the SGUGiT site.
The students were divided into two age categories - junior (10-13 years old) and older (14-17 years old). Each team included 2 representatives from an educational institution. The main mission of the guys was to learn how to program robots and perform assigned tasks as part of the competitive process. A total of 55 teams took part in the competition.
The first places in the VEX VR section were taken by the Coliseum team (10-13 years old) from the IT-Cube Center, Novosibirsk and the Techniques team (14-17 years old) from MBOU secondary school No. 3, Kuibyshev.
The first places in the VEX IQ section were taken by: the Daniliki team (10-13 years old) from the MAOU Lyceum 176, Novosibirsk and the KRizG12 team (14-17 years old) from the MAOU "Gymnasium No. 12", Novosibirsk.
The event was attended by the rector of the university Alexander Karpik, who commented on what was happening and noted the importance of holding such events for schoolchildren: “Being here, I see a completely new mentality in the younger generation. This is a different level and a new format for the development of our technological modern society. We are creating a 3D technology center on the basis of SGUGiT, which will include robotics, navigation systems, scanning systems and much more. Here, the younger generation will be able to realize their interest in science by turning it into real projects.”
