The "Emotional City Map" is a project that promises to tell us more about our city than any guide. This startup is led by students from the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies, who dream of making Novosibirsk not just a dot on a map, but a living, feeling organism.

Imagine: an interactive map that responds not to traffic jams and routes, but to your emotions. Joy on Lenin Square? Sadness in the industrial zone? Excitement in Akademgorodok? The "Emotional Map" captures these vibrations and transforms them into a vibrant visualization. Users mark places where they experience strong emotions, share their impressions and associations. And then – the city comes alive on the screen, shimmering with all the colors of emotion.

Why does the city need an emotion map? Here's why:

  • Eavesdrop on the city find out where people feel safe and comfortable, and where they feel lonely and anxious.
  • Reveal secrets: discover hidden gems and undeservedly forgotten corners of Novosibirsk.
  • Getting closer: making the city more understandable and welcoming for residents, tourists, and businesses.

The "Emotional Map" is a tool that will help architects, urbanists, and government officials make decisions based not only on data but also on people's feelings. It's an opportunity to build a city where everyone can feel happy.

The SSUGT team has already accomplished a tremendous amount of work: surveying hundreds of Novosibirsk residents, creating the first version of the emotional map highlighting the city's most sensitive areas, and developing a stylish website and mobile app layout.

– We want every Novosibirsk resident to become an artist, painting an emotional portrait of their city. Imagine sharing your joy, sadness, or nostalgia—and it will help make our city a better place,
– says Konstantin Ziborov, one of the developers.

We will be following the development of this exciting project. Perhaps soon Novosibirsk will become the first city in the world that can be not only seen but also felt.
