SSUGT developed a «Mobile forensic assistant» based on AI
26 June 2025
The Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies has created an application for forensic experts that automates the main stages of the crime scene inspection procedure. The developers include Nikita Kravets, a student studying in the Information Systems and Technologies program, and Elena Vladimirovna Shevchuk, an associate professor in the Department of Higher Mathematics.
Application capabilities:
- ensuring quality control of photographic recording of faces, which is critical for subsequent identification;
- automation of the process of converting primary, often informal descriptions into strict official formulations that meet the requirements of procedural documents.
Advantages of the development:
- focus on «field conditions» of work, where ease of use and minimal dependence on external factors are important. At the same time, the possibility of integration with modern systems for processing and analyzing forensic data is preserved;
- increasing the accuracy of recording evidence. Saving time due to automation. Compliance with Russian laws;
- the application uses domestic technologies. The plans include integration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs databases and the addition of new functions.
– The solution reduces dependence on the human factor by delegating routine but critically important recording and documentation tasks to AI in strict accordance with the law, with the requirements and rules established by forensics. In addition, it can serve as a tool for improving the professional competencies of young investigators, interns, and students of relevant specialties,
– the developers note.
