The professional tests for «Geomatics Engineer» and «Geomatics Topographer» were held at Saratov State University of Geotechnics and Technology
From December 4th to 13th, the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technology hosted the «Geomatics Engineer» and «Geomatics Topographer» professional tryouts. The tryouts were organized by the Department of Geomatics and Real Estate Infrastructure as part of the All-Russian Science Festival «NAUKA 0+». The goal was to popularize natural sciences and career guidance for young people.
The event focused on the fundamentals of geodesy and cartography, which are relevant areas for training engineering specialists.
Students from educational institutions in Novosibirsk (Schools No. 187, No. 90, No. 109, No. 27, No. 40, the Information and Economics Lyceum, and the SSUGT Lyceum) and the Ordynsky District of the Novosibirsk Region (Vagaytsevskaya and Verkh-Irmenskaya Secondary Schools) participated in the master class. A total of 250 people participated.
The main objective of the professional trials was to develop practical skills in using an electronic level and a total station. During the «Geomatics Engineer» trial, led by second- and third-year students majoring in Land Management and Cadastre, students surveyed nine points using a digital level and then created a digital terrain model. During the «Topographer-Geomatician» trial, they surveyed points using an electronic total station and then created a topographic map based on the measurements.
This event helped to increase students' interest in the natural sciences and modern technology, as well as develop the professional competencies of future geometrists.
