Science
For 90 years, our university has been a conductor of innovations in the field of geodesy, aerial photography and cartography. Its scientific developments in the field of engineering geodesy, analytical and digital photogrammetry, digital cartography, space and physical geodesy, optical instrumentation are known far beyond the university. Today, SSUGT is a key center for testing and implementing modern technologies for the geospatial industry. SSUGT, with its values and scientific potential, strives to be at the forefront of science and technology.
In order to preserve and develop the intellectual, scientific and cultural potential of SSUGT, to ensure the continuity of generations, as well as to develop scientific and scientific-pedagogical schools that contribute to the formation of the scientific elite, the university pays great attention to the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel. Postgraduate and doctoral studies at SSUGT train scientific personnel in 6 scientific areas.
The university has two dissertation councils that facilitate the training of highly qualified specialists in the fields of Geodesy, Aerospace Research of the Earth, Photogrammetry, Land Management, Cadastre and Land Monitoring, and Cartography.
To develop scientific potential, 27 research laboratories, research centers and business incubators operate at SSUGT.
Over the last decade, SSUGT has taken part in a number of major projects to improve the spatial data infrastructure: a network of permanently operating GNSS base stations was created in the Novosibirsk region; a local coordinate system for the Novosibirsk region was developed based on SK-95; spatial data for the Novosibirsk region were transformed into a new local coordinate system; methods for harmonizing local and state coordinate systems were developed, etc.
SSUGT is the copyright holder of a large number of new inventions, including 113 patents of the Russian Federation for inventions and utility models and 95 certificates of state registration of programs for electronic computers and databases received and registered with the Federal Executive Authority for Intellectual Property over the past five years. During this period, SSUGT published and accepted for publication over 4,000 articles, including over 600 in journals from the list of the Higher Attestation Commission, and 364 articles in foreign publications.
Since 2005, the University has been the organizer of the International Exhibition and Scientific Congress "Interexpo GEO-Siberia". The forum is a transnational platform, the purpose of which is to organize a dialogue between scientists and specialists in the field of geospatial activities, as well as developers of specialized equipment and software, aimed at exchanging advanced experience and best practices, discussing current issues and developing approaches to their solution, defining a strategy for the spatial development of the country and its territories.
In order to intensify scientific research and innovation activities, strengthen the integration of university science with academic science and provide the opportunity to publish the results of scientific activities, the university publishes the journal “Vestnik SGUGiT”.
