Saratov State University of Geology and Technology (SSUGT) summed up the results of the large-scale student sports festival "UniverFest"
From March 10th to 13th, the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies hosted the "UniverFest" student sports festival. This year, the event reached a new level, combining several exciting disciplines and attracting a record number of participants from across the region.
Over the course of four days, teams from educational institutions across the Novosibirsk Region competed for the title of best in various disciplines. SSUGT sports grounds brought together 59 teams from 18 vocational and higher education institutions. Leading universities and colleges of Novosibirsk, including Novosibirsk State Technical University, Saratov State University of Water Technologies, Novosibirsk State Medical University, Siberian State University of Technology, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, and many others, sent their athletes.
The festival program was rich and varied. The UniverFest included competitions across several categories: the UniverFaculty League (mini-football, 3x3 basketball, and FIFA and UFC eSports tournaments), the women's 3x3 basketball tournament "Cups and Flowers," and the regional stage of the All-Russian UniverFaculty GTO (GTO) project (darts, a FIFA eSports tournament, GTO all-around competitions, tug-of-war, and a sports quiz). An educational program was also organized for the leaders and activists of student sports clubs.
The festival culminated in the announcement of the winners of the overall GTO team competition, the results of which will determine the team for the All-Russian finals in Sochi. The Panthers Sports Club (SSUGT) took first place. The Hephaestus Sports Club (NKPT) took second place, and the Gepardy Sports Club (SSUT) rounded out the top three.
At the closing ceremony, Alexey Stanislavovich Maksimov, Head of the Department for Sports Events, Student, and Mass Sports at the Novosibirsk Region State Autonomous Institution "Directorate of Sports Events," addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
The festival was organized by the SSUGIT Panthers Student Sports Club with the support of the university's Department for Educational Work and Youth Policy and the regional branch of the Association of Sports Students of Russia in the Novosibirsk Region.
