Opening of the Machine Learning and Neural Networks Laboratory

On September 5, the opening of the Machine Learning and Neural Networks Laboratory took place at the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies. The event was attended by a representative of Sberbank PJSC - Alexander Sergeevich Solop, Manager of the Novosibirsk branch of the Siberian Bank of Sberbank PJSC. The laboratory was opened as part of strategic cooperation, with the aim of improving the quality of education, taking into account the current needs of practical activities. Sberbank PJSC provided funding for the purchase of equipment for the laboratory. The funding amounted to 1.2 million rubles.

The laboratory is equipped with 16 all-in-one computers for implementing projects related to technological solutions in the field of machine learning, neural networks and artificial intelligence. All the all-in-one computers have the REDOS Linux distribution installed. A server with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics processor, which is the main computing node for training neural networks and performing complex tasks that require large computing resources. The Label Studio software is deployed on the server, which is used to mark up and prepare datasets.

The laboratory will host practical classes on working with data labeling tools, laboratory work on training neural networks, seminars and workshops on machine learning, project sessions and hackathons.

- The level of competence of the laboratory team and students is quite high. This level allows us to work out business hypotheses. The main thing we have to do is organize the delivery of a business order from the commercial sector. If this hypothesis is from the customer, then we will immediately test commercial applicability, then industrial piloting and integration into business. First, we will work out a couple of hypotheses, if they are successful, then we will probably hold a hackathon, where business partners will set their own tasks, - Alexander Sergeevich Solop, Manager of the Novosibirsk branch of the Siberian Bank of PAO Sberbank, told about further plans.
